Client Raves: Cynthia & Aaron

I love these kind of emails! *heart* Makes me feel warm & fuzzy inside. :)

"Aaron and I had a year to plan for our wedding...one may think a year is a long time but it passed by in a blink of an eye.. Initially we did all the planning as the thought of hiring someone to plan everything for us would cost a bomb! But we really needed someone to coordinate the whole wedding..but who? As things were getting more stressful, God sent us an angel. He sent Sherly. I just so happened to have read a link on my friend's FaceBook page and voila the next thing I knew, we found ourselves a wedding coordinator! That’s what I loved bout Tie-Knot, they don't insist that they have to plan everything from scratch like some wedding planners but they offer varied services which included wedding coordination and more importantly they were affordable!

Upon meeting Sherly for the first time at StarBucks, she has a very genuine spirit, sweet, caring personality..and we just clicked!!! The funny part bout Sherly was that she was supposed to be the "coordinator" but instead she did more than coordinate...she gave me advice on vendors I should consider engaging and constantly kept abreast with our progress right up to the wedding! Remember the FaceBook chats in the middle of the night, Sherly? Closer to the wedding day, Sherly did things for us that she didn't need to do... she offered to do them just because she is the sweetest!!!!

On our wedding day Aaron and I didn’t have anything to worry about as we knew we were in prefect hands...

Aaron & I were truly blessed to have had the privilege of working with someone who really poured out her heart and soul into every tiny detail with such grace and professionalism.

Sherly, you are such a darling!! In you not only did i find the perfect wedding coordinator..in you i've found a dear friend! Hugs!!!

Kudos to you, Boon, Nora and the rest of your team!!!"

Sad Loss

Hello friends,

Sharing a quick note on my long absence and to let you know that I'll be back updating soon. Aside for the fact that we're in the midst of coming up with a new look and website; my family and I have suffered a tragic and sudden loss and despite it being 43 days since my beloved Daddy's passing we're still in the grieving process which comes and goes like tidal waves. His absence will be forever felt and may Allah bless his soul always.

Al Fatihah.

For those who got to know that something was amiss - thank you for your love, prayers and support. It has meant the world to me and my family and I cannot thank you enough.

Wedding Planner Myths: You Do or I Do?

There are many preconceived myths about wedding planners. Couples do forget that when you hire a planner, you're actually tapping into their experience and contacts which in the long run will save you money and of course turn your dream into fairytale reality. I chanced upon a well written blog by Jen Wooster-McBride, a wedding planner from Ohio which describes the perceptions that many have about what we do.

You can get Jen's original's post here and also as below.

I recently set up a booth at a local bridal show. As I talked with the brides and grooms I began to realize there are many misconceptions about what a wedding planner (or bridal consultant) can do for you. I then asked a few of my Twitter friends and got some additional feedback. So without further ado here are some of the most common myths about wedding planners and the wedding planning process.

1.I don’t want someone planning my wedding for me- Let’s put it this way, when searching for your first home a real estate agent facilitates the process, guides you and offers advice. They don’t choose which house you buy. That’s your job. Well, wedding planning works the same way. It’s your wedding and every decision is yours to make. A wedding planner acts as your agent. They facilitate the process, take care of the technical aspects and offer advice. It is still and will always be YOUR day.

2.I can’t afford a wedding planner- Did you know it takes 400 hours for the average bride to plan a wedding. That is 10- 40 hour work weeks! Can you really afford to spend that kind of time? Not to mention a wedding planner can save you money through discounts, negotiation and by helping you eliminate unnecessary expenditures.

3.Day of coordination (or weekend) is just the wedding day- Quite simply- No. It depends on the package you purchase but a professional will not just show up on the day with no idea what is going on! A day of coordinator will work with you several months before the wedding to ensure all the details are wrapped up, create a detailed timeline, confirm your vendors, attend the rehearsal and be there on your wedding day to take care of any issues that arise.

4.There isn’t that much to do- My husband volunteered when I was in need of an extra set of hands for a recent wedding. Let’s just say the manual labor was more than he expected. After a full 12 hours he said it was one of the most exhausting work days he ever had. Did I mention he works in construction?

5.I am supposed to want to do this- For some brides, the wedding planning process is heaven. Pretty things they have dreamed about for years. For others it’s hell. Yes hell. It is OK if you don’t like doing the planning but still want to have a rockin’ wedding. A bridal consultant can ease the pain.

6.My friends and family are going to help me- Of course they are! That is what friends are for right? But on that day wouldn’t you rather they enjoy all the little details you have painstakingly picked out? As one of my twitter friends said, “Friends don’t let friends set up”. Or teardown. Leave that to the professionals so you can celebrate with your loved ones. After all isn’t that what weddings are really about?

The great thing about Malaysia is that we spolit for choice with our many beautiful, exotic islands which makes a great wedding destination. It's all about finding your beach styles by bringing in the natural elements of the tranquil surroundings and creating the palette that fits with your vision.

Lea Salonga: Two Words

Lea Salonga sang 'Two Words' at her wedding as her wedding vow. Absolutely touching and actually watched it a few times. Her voice is just so angelic, can imagine why her husband broke down in tears a few times. :)

Flower Girls

Have you noticed that children are generally excluded from formal wedding events unless it's held at home. It's such a shame as they bring such enjoyment and the 'cute' factor to the day especially their super adorable dresses  though I would advise that ground rules will need to be set to avoid tantrum moments. Plus, they give the photographers much candid moments to snap. All together now, "Awwwww" :)

Be Inspired: Paper Lanterns

Ask around these days and you hear couples striving to make their wedding day extra special and unique especially when it feels as if more and more weddings are the same; similar cakes, gowns and cheesy music.

Thinking of making your wedding stand out from the crowd yet not so costly? One way to add that touch of eastern spice is to use wedding lanterns. Not only is this stylish, it brings such a beautiful ambience to the wedding setting and of course a great sense of fun.
